Like nearby island summer communities, Murray Isle once was linked to the railroad depot at Clayton by steamboats that made regular scheduled runs between the river communities. Like most others, Murray Isle once featured a large resort hotel--similarly lost in the early twentieth century. Now the island is ringed with private cottages.
