Very interesting story. I have noticed in the past several years the diminishing of the tern population, which is sad. I much prefer them to the aggressive sea gull which seem to be increasing in numbers. Now I know why.

This story is beautiful and fantastic. Also, I would have not had my wits about me AT ALL - taking pictures, processing all of this, birds dive-bombing my head, and trying to keep myself from going ass over teakettle in my kayak. You're my hero. (I mean, I probably could have done it, but there would have been a lot of swearing involved and I would have been soggier than the bird.)

What a beautiful story! I love how you are always educating us on wildlife and events in the area. And I love how you remind us that even when we are weak and giving up, God seems to give us the strength to go on....just like this tern.

I especially loved the 'tern' humor you put into this article. You are very witty!

Keep writing and keep sharing these tidbits with us.

Beautifully written and very enjoyable to read. I felt like I was there with you. Wouldn't it be lovely if this little tern came back to see you. I do hope you will go back to that spot for a visit and watch for him to return. Thank you.
ps I am going to look for your other writings.

Great story....this might not have been the birds first friendly encounter with the human islanders..it looks like he has been banded!

Are we going to see anymore articles from Patricia Mondore? When I receive the email with the monthly picture, I scan quickly to see if there's an article. Then I'm sad when there's nothing written by her. Can't wait until her articles appear in the T.I. Sun again. I love learning about wildlife and different events happening in the area that we are not aware of. She definitely educates and enlightens us. Hoping for more articles to get us through the dreary winter months.

Thanks!
